Actually there was a reasonable amount of stuff done this week, but no real headliner, and I was honestly too busy to put the report together this week. Work was crazy so I wasn’t able to do it day-by-day, and then on Friday night I went to a metal concert for the first time in like 15 years and got home super late. Easiest to just do a monster post next week.
I wouldn’t mind if the release were postponed to October or so if it’s mostly feature complete and polished by then and nothing needs to be left out until Plasma7 comes around.
There are currently no plans to remove activities entirely for Plasma 6. That Issue is merely a discussion. You might even notice that I closed it, but then somebody else re-opened it!
If we move back the soft feature freeze, we either have to leave less time for beta testing, or push back the release.
Less time for beta testing strikes me as a bad idea, and I don’t think we can feasibly postpone the release. It’s not just Plasma 6 that gets released on that day, but also Frameworks 6 and Gear apps 24.02. We have to do a synchronized release because of the soft dependencies between them (e.g. kio-extras and kdegraphics-thumbnailers are in Gear, depend on Frameworks, and provide file thumbnails for both Dolphin and Plasma). So if we push it back for Plasma, we’re pushing it back for everyone else too, which is fairly disruptive.
Nooooooooooooo !!

Everyone’s on vacation, nothing to see here. â‹®) Move along, folks! The KDE gang deserve a vacation.
Also, what’s a twik? Sounds like a chocolate bar. Is it gluten-free?

Nate, do you think it’d be good to postpone the feature freeze by a month? Would that be even possible?
Looks like some precious features such as Activities aren’t going to make it it: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/issues/35#note_787719 😦

I meant this more general, Activities were just an example.
